Carrier Isabelle

A graduate of Strasbourg’s École des arts-décoratifs, Isabelle Carrier now makes her home in the southwestern département of Isère, at the foot of a massif in the Chartreuse range with her partner, author and illustrator Jérôme Ruillier.
The mother of two girls, one of whom was born different, she has published several picture books sunny in outlook while tackling such difficult topics as disability, separation, acceptance, and transcending your own limits with sensitivity, poetry, and humor.
Her picture book La petite casserole d’Anatole (Anatole’s Little Saucepan, Bilboquet, 2009) received the Prix Sorcières 2010 and has inspired several media adaptations.
She often visits children in schools for conversations on delicate issues of difference and, with her partner Jérôme, runs painting workshops for disabled adults.
She is now able to devote her full time and attention to creating new picture books!
