Mark Rothko was a brilliant man and, because of this brilliance, always out of place.
Immigrating to the United States with his family in 1913, he learned English extremely quickly and even managed to get a scholarship to Yale. However, he soon rejected academic teaching and decided to move to New York, where his encounter with painting took place. After years of difficulties, Rothko’s artistic value was finally recognized in the 1960s, leading him to be one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, despite his tragic and untimely death.
This book is thus a tribute to the colors and emotions of Rothko, an artist little understood in life and exalted after death. It is an immersion in the immediacy of the works of this extraordinary painter, creator of an unprecedented visual language with an exceptional, apparent simplicity.
