In children’s books, we often see grandmothers with curlers and grandfathers wearing suspenders and corduroy pants. Most often, the women bake pies and the men go fishing on Saturday mornings. But what about today’s grandparents? Those who are not yet retired, who are far from suffering from rheumatism and who, for some, prefer going to the movies to knitting or tinkering in the garage? Élisabeth Brami (writer) and Estelle Billon-Spagnol (illustrator) do them justice in this collection. Fifteen grandchildren introduce one of their grandparents, and what emerges is their diversity: ages, appearances, hobbies, origins. A joyful anthology in which all grandparents will recognize themselves, and which will help many to feel less self-conscious, because there are as many grandparents as there are ways to be involved in the lives of their grandchildren (babysitting EVERY Wednesday is no longer mandatory!).
