Alma is a very cheerful little girl. One day, her mother puts a pretty necklace of white stones around her neck. She tells her to be as strong as she has been. Then it’s her grandmother’s turn, followed by her sister, her best friend, and her teacher, each offering her a necklace and its symbol. Alma’s neck is sore, weighed down by the jewelry. She is no longer as cheerful. Until she hears a crash on the floor. A pearl has fallen. One by one, the necklaces break, and Alma regains her freedom.
