Autumn has arrived, and the squirrel is busy gathering hazelnuts to prepare for the winter. Worried about how long the cold season will last, he seeks advice from his wise neighbor, the old owl. Each time he visits, the owl predicts an even longer winter, prompting the squirrel to collect more and more hazelnuts until he is completely exhausted. The story ends with a humorous twist: the owl bases his predictions on the squirrels’ behavior— the more nuts they store, the longer he thinks winter will be!

This charming illustrated tale gently explores the anxiety of facing the unknown and our tendency to worry endlessly, while celebrating the cleverness of nature and the wisdom of elders.
