Bauhaus marked a caesura toward all the past, even those close to us. The first decade of the twentieth century was animated throughout Europe by a strong will for change led by young people. It was the force of joy and youth. In that context, the idea of renewal in the Bauhaus also passed through spirituality, non-normative sexuality, the presence of women, anti-capitalism, and sharing. The destruction of the past was not done using force or weapons, but through the freedom of individuals. This, of all the teachings of the school, brings us to a consideration today, a century after the founding of the Bauhaus: freedom frightens. In the name of decorum, the norm and the past, people are enmeshed and heterodirected. But there is no artistic creation, no flicker of genius, no personal development, no human being where there is control.
