Emilie has a mane of red hair that plays tricks on her: washing it takes hours, if she has dandruff it’s like a snowstorm, and the only job she’s offered is as a sandwich board girl for a wig maker. Tired of it all, she leaves for Africa. But her wild mane leads the locals to mistake her for a goddess and take her prisoner. She manages to escape and meets Mortimer, a fashion designer with a moustache as flamboyant as Emilie’s hair. She becomes his muse and imposes her hairstyle on him.
