Because he missed the usual Sunday evening train, Gaspard finds himself on the Monday morning train. Like every week, he leaves for the countryside, an hour or so from Paris, to visit Granninouchka, his grandmother, because his parents work too much to look after him.
As soon as he arrives at the station, something seems off. But when he sees unusual landscapes through the window, then notices that the rear carriages have disappeared and discovers a skull on the toilet door, his concern grows. Even more so when the old lady sitting opposite offers him a sandwich before asking him to pay for it and telling him that the train will be running until the next day…
These few incidents derail the routine of a week that has only just begun.

This first volume (of a series of seven) sets the tone: the adventures imagined by Valérie Dayre for her hero are rooted in a generally predictable, programmed life, where the unexpected always arises, disrupting the routine.
